Three days and counting. I am really excited about my trip across the pond, but I have to say that I am most excited about doing some junking in Germany. Old type face books, discarded treasures, trinkets...other peoples junk. My gold mine. Packing real light to save the room for all the goodies.

This is how the trip's going down.
1. Barcelona
2. Paris
3. London
4. Berlin
5. Munich

About three days in each city. In and out, surgical strike-style. Can't wait to experience all the culture and history. Get back to my roots.

Sending the wife and grom back up to Oregon for the duration of my trip and then some. Traci will get some time on the mountain with good friends (and god-parents to Paisley) Reuben and Shirlyn (Congrats on the engagement!). Should be a good time for her. Paisley will stay the weekend with Poppy and Nana K. Gonna miss the fam, huge amounts!

Lot's of revamping. Lot's of work. Lot's of parenting.

Had a little bit of a hiatus. Took some time for myself and the family. Sometimes you just have to slow down a bit. Tap the brakes. Seems a little like the world is pedal to the floor at all times. We're 10 months out from election day and it's already a media circus. Christmas was biting on Thanksgiving's heels before I had my plate cleaned while the TV's shouting at me to buy buy buy! The economy is slumping. Oil prices are through the roof. Everyone's going green just because it's now deemed to be a cool color to have on your pallete. Visual lies. Not sure where I stand yet. That's what a couple of months will do to you.

Been stockpiling reference images for a little project I got going on with Miles Lauridsen. Super top secret. Sketching commencing soon. It's always so fun working with Miles, that is when we stay on track. That's where I found the little gem from the Soviets. Always been a huge fan of what was behind that iron curtain.

Leaving next Monday for Europe for two weeks. More on that as the week progresses.

New updates in the Portfolio area. Lots of categories getting filled up, lots of multitasking going on. The wife's sick with the flu, Paisley's talking up a storm, we got lots going on with football, and the computer's been glued to the brain. Getting stuff done. Feels good.

New print work added on the portfolio side of the site. More updates coming. Back to the grind after a long stint over on the east coast. Missed the family, missed being at home.

Should be getting the new Field Notes shipment soon. So stoked to get my hands on some newness. My last couple of books have had it. Plenty of use, no page left untouched. (Thanks Draplin!)

A great collection of Sugar Frosted Cereal boxes.

Powerful. Moving. There's just something about the use of black, white, red and a little bit of yellow. Well done. Check out the new Foo Fighter's video. Been working on a whole slew of paintings, trying to prep for a possible trip back to the good ol' northwest to speak at my old college. Haven't put paint to canvas yet, just getting the research done. Can't wait for that moment though. Should be a fun trip.

Tuesdays that feel like Mondays. Such a great thing. Onward with the week.

Newbaric Design is now open! Check out Brian Lindstrom's art and design over at newbaric.com. Loads of talent. Loads of fun times. The "Organic" poster series is insane. Good form, Brian, good form.

Working on some new art for my buddy LQ, surfer/fisherman/boardshort designer extraordinaire. It's always nice to get some fun work, the sort of stuff that lets you think outside of the box that is outside the box that you usually think outside of. Case in point, LQ's project Fishworks.

Expecting rain ALL weekend long here in San Clemente. Just in time for the lack of labor on labor day weekend.

Been researching the good old 80's. What a time, what a time. Capitalism, the Berlin Wall, MTV...oh how times have changed. It's funny how it all comes back around. Found this little gem that brings things a little closer together.

Nose to the grind stone. 12 days until NYC and Miami. Should be a fun trip. Lots to see, lots to do. Lots to do before then too.

Paisley's done playing with Tigger. Time to come home. If I had my way, they wouldn't leave again...but I guess that's just part of being a dad. Biggest lesson in life, letting go.

Start of another huge week. Lot's to do. Little time to do it in. Looking forward to it.

Rome Snowboards has some shit going on this weekend. If you’re in the area, you gotta check their Design Syndicate-ness out. Joel, stay “safe”!

Jimmy Fontaine has been up to a world of shit. Website is still in the works, but you can also check him out on /MySpace.

Miles, Hollywood compositor extraordinaire, is on his way down…should be some good times, fist in the air, cold bevies! Shortly!

Bluedom

Day 3-Feeling a little blue today. Kind of in that mood. Missing the wife and daughter. Missing family. Missing friends.

Lots on the plate today. Petal to the metal. Gotta get that thrashin' rock going and we're outta here.

Came across this great set of cigarette cards a while back. Kind of a weird concept, definitely dated.

Traci and Paisley head up to Oregon tomorrow morning for a wedding and to visit family. Wondering what the heck I'm going to do with all the space and down time...Sure going to miss them. Breaking out some canvasses and paints comes to mind. Surf, if we ever get any waves, make a couple of lists...We'll see.

Incoming Transmission...

Welcome. First blog, ever. After visiting Draplin’s site daily, I have finally broken down and succombed to the world of daily posts. And, well, I've just been so damn busy with work and life that my website has been getting splinters sitting on the bench. Plus, there have been way too many fun projects to pass up on.

Here's to kicking ass, David Lee Roth style.
Here's to drinking Pabst on a Friday afternoon at 3.
Here's to finally getting this thing up and running.

Link of the week:
Hours of stupidity, hours of word wonder. Enjoy. Urban Dictionary
